About TORCH IT!

TORCH IT! is a fire puzzle about one small monster, four kinds of torches (plain, arrow, oil and burst) and a lot of very flammable towers. You press, drag back like a slingshot and release, then watch the fire spread: wood burns, stone doesn't, oil spreads, wet planks stop everything and a powder keg ends the argument. You win when every prankster has gone up in smoke; the fewer torches you throw, the more stars you earn, and in five levels you also have to keep a bag of marshmallows golden rather than charred. There are 15 hand-made levels in three short chapters, plus 200 generated endless towers that the developer says were each proven solvable by a solver. The developer, Rastlin Games, credits the code, game design and all English and French text to Claude Opus 5.5 in Claude Code, in plain JavaScript with no engine or library; the paintings were made with SDXL and the music with ACE-Step, run locally. Free in the browser on itch.io, on phones in portrait or on desktop, in English and French; it was entered in AI Browser Game Jam 5.

How it was built

Partially verified

The developer's jam submission credits “Code, game design and all EN/FR text” to Claude Opus 5.5 in Claude Code (a few early sessions on Opus 5), in plain JavaScript with no engine and no library. Claude also wrote the runtime sound engine that synthesizes the sound effects, and the solver that proves every level solvable and sets the par score. Bots replay every proven solution in Chrome, Firefox and WebKit, and a second Claude reviewed the whole build four times. The human part (Rastlin) is given as the idea, art direction, the hook line and playtesting.

Supporting evidence
  • Developeritch.io page: “Everything you see and hear was made with AI for this jam, directed by one human, on our own machines: the code and design, the paintings, the music, the sound effects synthesized by a sound engine the AI wrote, the levels each proven by a solver it wrote, and the text.” — itch.io
Development approach

Made for AI Browser Game Jam 5, with everything generated and run on the developer's own machines. Claude Code wrote the plain-JavaScript game, the sound engine and the level solver; the 15 levels were hand-built and the 200 endless towers generated, each proven solvable by that solver. The paintings (hero, 16 pranksters, tiles, sky, icons) were made with SDXL and SDXL-Lightning on a local CPU, and the music, one track per chapter, with ACE-Step 1.5 run locally. The page says nothing came from an asset store or marketplace.

Verification notes: AI use from the AI Tools Used answer on the official AI Browser Game Jam 5 submission page and the itch.io page, both re-read on 4 Nov 2026; model names (Opus 5.5, Opus 5) are quoted as the developer gives them. The sources credit the code to Claude Code but give no share, so no AI code share is recorded. Team size 1 from “One human + AI” and “directed by one human”; the page also says “our own machines”. Publication (20 Oct 2026, 22:52 UTC), last update (4 Nov 2026, 01:32 UTC), the English and French language field and the itch.io rating of 3.0 (1 rating) from the itch.io page. The 200 endless towers were generated ahead of time by the project's generator script and ship as fixed level data (js/niveaux_generes.js), checked by the Claude-written solver; the game's scripts make no calls to AI services, and the sound is synthesized by the game's own sound engine. Jam voting was still open on 4 Nov 2026, so no placement is recorded. The game was not played.
