About Waiting Room
Waiting Room is a short first-person horror game about the place between life and death. On a snowy night, with a car crumpled at one corner, you climb the stairwell of an old apartment block, step through a red door and come out in a hospital that is not quite a hospital: bright corridors go dark, you carry a searchlight, and something in the ward wears your face. When the lights go out you have to run, hide and listen, because it hears you before it sees you. Six beams of light lead across a silent hospital floor, each holding a frozen moment from the night that brought you there, and you have to reach them without being caught. The itch.io page lists ten scenes, from a snowy courtyard to the end of the night, red rooms, a mirror and a quiet church, no HUD, 3D spatial sound meant for headphones, voice-over with subtitles and saved progress, with an average session of about half an hour. The developer's launch post sets it in an old post-Soviet hospital in Slovakia and says the whole game was made only with Claude Code: the engine (Metal on Mac, Vulkan on Windows), the gameplay, the monster AI and the cloth physics, using free assets only. A name-your-own-price download for Windows and for Macs with Apple silicon; the page says an iPhone version is coming to the App Store.
How it was built
Partially verifiedIn a launch post on r/aigamedev (29 Oct 2026, UTC) titled “I just released my first game made entirely with Claude Code”, the poster says the whole game was made only with Claude Code: the engine (Metal on Mac, Vulkan on Windows), the gameplay, the monster AI and the cloth physics, and that it uses free assets only. The post does not name a model or describe how the work was done. The itch.io page's AI disclosure ticks AI Assisted, Code and Graphics.

Per the developer's post, a custom engine with Metal (macOS) and Vulkan (Windows) back ends, the gameplay, the monster AI and the cloth physics were all made with Claude Code, and the game uses free assets only. The itch.io page lists realistic lighting on a custom engine, 3D spatial sound, voice-over with subtitles and a save system that continues from the last scene reached.

“The whole game was made only with Claude Code: the engine (Metal on Mac, Vulkan on Windows), the gameplay, the monster AI and the cloth physics. It uses free assets only.”Verification notes: The Claude Code claim comes from the launch post on r/aigamedev by u/Bill_Buffet (29 Oct 2026, 14:30 UTC), read from the Arctic Shift Reddit archive because reddit.com did not answer our checks; the post says “I just released my first game, Waiting Room” and links this itch.io page. The Reddit name differs from the itch.io account TiborHoltman, and neither page links the other's account, so the tie rests on that post alone; who is behind either name, and the team size and location, are not stated. Story, features, controls, system requirements, the English language field, the AI disclosure (AI Assisted, Code, Graphics) and the rating of 5.0 from 2 ratings come from the itch.io page (published 28 Oct 2026, 21:07 UTC; updated 30 Oct 2026, 18:26 UTC; checked 4 Nov 2026). The disclosure ticks Graphics while the post says the game uses free assets only; neither source says which graphics were AI-made. The Slovak post-Soviet hospital setting is from the post. The announced iPhone version was not found on the App Store and is not listed. Nothing in the sources describes AI used during play (the monster AI is game logic). The game was not played.
