Rights holder / original work: Ski Jump International v3 (Ville Könönen)

The developer calls Bubenjump a clean-room remake of Ski Jump International v3 (SJ3), a Finnish shareware game, with no SJ3 code or assets but the same hill list; the credits carry a tribute to Ski Jump International v3 by Ville Könönen, and the privacy text calls the game a private, non-commercial fan project. No source shows a licence or permission from SJ3's author. The hills are named after real ski-jumping venues. (Reddit (u/jimbobnissenhieb))

About Bubenjump

Bubenjump is a free pixel-art ski jumping game in the browser, on desktop and phone, with no download, no account and no ads. You press to take off, steer your body angle in flight and time the landing, with a telemark if you dare. The site lists 22 hills, from the Otepää normal hill to the Kulm ski-flying hill and the 2026 Olympic hill in Predazzo, with new hills added as the real World Cup season reaches them. Every day there is a Jump of the Day on one hill, with the same wind for everyone in the world and three attempts, plus a Jump of the Week on a ski-flying hill, world and national records, duels in the same wind, leagues and tournaments with friends by invite link, and a World Cup 2026/27 that awards points on every real World Cup day from 20 November 2026 to 21 March 2027, with a Nations Cup and team events. The developer says the physics is fully deterministic, so a replay is just the input trace and the server re-simulates every submitted jump to keep the leaderboards honest, and that wind compensation follows the FIS formula, tuned per hill. Your identity is a random key in your browser, restored on another device with a personal link. The developer calls it a clean-room remake of Ski Jump International v3, a Finnish shareware game, with none of its code or assets but the same hill list, and says it was built over a few weeks with Claude Code; the in-game credits list “Code: Claude”. In English, German, Polish, Slovenian, Norwegian and Finnish.

How it was built

Partially verified

In a post on r/aigamedev (17 Oct 2026, UTC) the developer writes: “I built it over the last few weeks, with Claude Code. It's a clean-room remake: no SJ3 code or assets, just the same hill list and the spirit.” The stack is TypeScript, Preact and a plain canvas for the pixel art, with Node and SQLite on one small Fly.io machine. The game's credits list Krischan Lehmann for the idea and Claude for the code. No model is named, and no code share is given.

Supporting evidence
  • DeveloperIn-game credits (from the site's script): Idea: Krischan Lehmann; Code: Claude; Music: ssilk. — Bubenjump (Krischan Lehmann)
  • DeveloperAn earlier post by the same account (15 Oct 2026), now removed, was titled “I vibe-coded a pixel-art ski jumping game with async friend leagues. Here's how I built it (Claude Code, deterministic physics, server-side replay check)”; only the title survives. — Reddit (u/jimbobnissenhieb)
Development approach

Per the developer, built over a few weeks with Claude Code in TypeScript and Preact, with the pixel art drawn on a plain canvas and a Node and SQLite back end on a single Fly.io machine. The physics runs at a fixed timestep with seeded wind, so a replay is only the input trace and the server re-simulates every submitted jump before it counts. Wind compensation follows the FIS formula, tuned per hill. There are no accounts: identity is a random key stored in the browser. The music is credited to ssilk.

— Krischan Lehmann, Bubenjump – a pixel-art ski jumping game with a deterministic physics sim (r/aigamedev)

Verification notes: The Claude Code claim comes from the developer's post on r/aigamedev by u/jimbobnissenhieb (17 Oct 2026, 09:47 UTC), read from the Arctic Shift Reddit archive, and from the credits in the site's script (“Code: Claude”). An earlier post by the same account (15 Oct 2026, 21:44 UTC) is removed; only its title, which says the game was vibe-coded with Claude Code, survives in the archive. The developer name Krischan Lehmann is from the credits, and the privacy text names K. Lehmann as responsible; the Reddit account is not named on the site, so the tie rests on the posts linking it. Hills, modes, the World Cup calendar and the six languages come from the site's front page (checked 4 Nov 2026); deterministic physics, server-side replay checks, the FIS wind formula and the stack are from the post. The site's built-in changelog starts on 15 Oct 2026 (world records, the worldwide daily jump, 16 jumpers, six languages); the first public release date is not stated. The privacy text says a Discord bot named “Claude · Bubenjump” reads the feedback channel on the game's Discord server and replies there; that is player support, not part of play. No AI is used during play. Team size and location are not stated. The game was not played.

Development history

  1. First entry in the game's changelog: world records, a worldwide daily jump, 16 jumpers (8 of them women), award ceremonies and six languages.

  2. Shared on r/aigamedev; the developer says it was built over a few weeks with Claude Code.

  3. Predazzo, the 2026 Olympic hill, is added as the 22nd hill.
