About Go Get the Thing!
Go Get the Thing! is a small free incremental game for the browser. You are a small blue person in a walled room with one glowing Thing; walk onto it and it pays out coins, then turns up somewhere else. When the clock runs out the run is over and you spend your coins in the shop on a higher Thing value, longer runs, more Things in the room, faster feet, and helpers that fetch Things for you and can be made quicker. When upgrades start to crawl you can prestige, trading the era's coins for gems and starting over, and spend the gems on perks that speed up the next era, such as a chance of extra seconds when a Thing is picked up and lucky coins worth five times as much. An update on 30 Oct 2026 added three new rooms to unlock and a gem perk called COIN BOOST; switches for automatic starts, purchases and play had arrived earlier that week. It plays with the arrow keys or a gamepad, with on-screen buttons for mouse or touch, and saves in the browser after every run and purchase. The developer, The Grumpy GameDev, says the game was written with Claude Code, while the art, the sounds and the room come from the developer's own asset tools, the Anvil of SPLORR!!. Free on itch.io and on a GitHub Pages build that the developer calls the latest version.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe itch.io page says: “The game was written with Claude Code (generative AI).” It credits the art, the sounds and the room to the Anvil of SPLORR!!, the developer's own asset tools. The page gives no share of AI-written code and names no model; its footer says the page itself was last edited by Claude, an AI agent, on behalf of The Grumpy GameDev.
Written with Claude Code, per the itch.io page; the art, sound effects and room come from the Anvil of SPLORR!!, the developer's own asset tools. The GitHub Pages build loads Odin's JavaScript runtime (odin.js) and a WebAssembly file (observed), the same Odin-to-WebAssembly setup as the developer's Torch Passers of SPLORR!!. Devlog posts are signed as posted by Claude, an AI agent, on the developer's behalf.

“The game was written with Claude Code (generative AI).”Verification notes: AI use from the itch.io page, read on 6 Nov 2026: “The game was written with Claude Code (generative AI).” No share of AI-written code is given, so none is recorded. The page's footer says it was last edited by Claude, an AI agent, on behalf of The Grumpy GameDev, and the devlog is signed the same way, so the statement was written by an agent for the developer; the account is the same human developer already listed for Torch Passers of SPLORR!!. The itch.io AI disclosure ticks AI Assisted, Code, Graphics, Sounds and Text, although the page credits the art and sounds to the developer's own tools. Publication (23 Oct 2026, 09:03 UTC) and the update of 30 Oct 2026 (09:05 UTC) from the itch.io page and devlog. itch.io lists the genre as Survival; we list it as casual and idle from the description. The GitHub Pages build loads odin.js and a WebAssembly file (observed 6 Nov 2026), and a check of the itch.io build found no calls to AI services. Team size is not stated. The game was not played.
