About Light x Dungeon
Light x Dungeon is a short retro dungeon crawler in the browser, about two hours long. The world is dark and the night never ends; you take a party of four “dubiously-heroic and exhausted” heroes down into St. Cendre's tomb to relieve him of the burden of God's Heart. While you explore, the light in your lantern goes out over time and leaves you exposed to the dark, and combat runs in real time to push you to play fast under pressure. When the light runs out you can go back, rest and improve your heroes, and watch them get to know each other. It plays with mouse and keyboard or a gamepad. The developer, Rombotnik, names Legend of Grimrock and Might and Magic as inspirations and says the aim was to make a full game in two weeks with AI. According to the developer, Claude Code (Opus 5.5) was mainly used for the programming, content, writing and implementation, on React and Three.js, while other generative services made the 3D models, textures, concept art, voices, sound effects and music. Made for AI Browser Game Jam 5 (theme: Torch) and free to play in the browser on itch.io.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe developer's itch.io page and jam answer say: “I mainly used Claude Code (Opus 5.5) for programming, content, writing, and implementation”, on React and Three.js. The in-game credits list “Code and content” as Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) and the UI design as Impeccable, which they describe as a Claude Code skill. Other generative services made the assets: headless Blender via MCP (rigging and animation), Meshy (3D models and textures), Gemini, credited in-game as Gemini 3.1 Flash Image (concept art and textures), Bria Remove Background via Replicate (cutouts), ElevenLabs (voices and sound effects) and Treblo (music).
- DeveloperJam submission, AI Tools Used: “The game is built on React + Three JS. I mainly used Claude Code (Opus 5.5) for programming, content, writing, and implementation.” — itch.io (AI Browser Game Jam 5, hosted by Focaccai)
Claude Code wrote the game on React and Three.js. The in-game credits list React Three Fiber, drei, three.quarks and Zustand, and a build and asset pipeline of Vite, TypeScript, Vitest, oxlint, glTF-Transform and sharp, together with the Google Gen AI SDK and the Replicate client used to make assets. The 3D models, textures, concept art, voices, sound effects and music were generated ahead of time with Meshy, Gemini, Bria Remove Background, ElevenLabs and Treblo, and rigging and sets were done in Blender through MCP; the shipped web build makes no calls to AI services. “I mainly used Claude Code (Opus 5.5) for programming, content, writing, and implementation.”Verification notes: Story, gameplay, controls and AI use from the developer's itch.io page (published 29 Oct 2026, 14:49 UTC; status Released; HTML5; genre Role Playing) and the AI Tools Used answer on the official AI Browser Game Jam 5 submission page, both re-read on 4 Nov 2026. Model names (Opus 5.5, Gemini 3.1 Flash Image) are quoted as the developer gives them. The credits and the TypeScript build are from the in-game credits text in the web build, read on 4 Nov 2026; the web build was also checked for calls to AI services and none were found. “Two weeks” is given as the developer's goal (“I wanted to challenge myself to make a full game in 2 weeks with AI”), not as a measured development time, so no development time is recorded. The page is written in the first person by one developer, but no team size is stated. Legend of Grimrock and Might and Magic are named by the developer as inspirations only; no names, characters or assets from them are used, so no IP notice is recorded. The developer says Claude Code was mainly used but gives no share, so no AI code share is recorded. Submissions closed on 31 Oct 2026 and voting was still in progress on 4 Nov 2026, so no placement is recorded. On 4 Nov the submission page showed 7 jam ratings (observed; jam votes, not players or reviews, so not recorded as a metric). itch.io shows no public rating and no download count. The game was not played.
