About Still Hour

Still Hour is a free puzzle-platformer in a drowned city where all the clocks have stopped, told as a sad little story in bits of text. You can rewind the whole level at any time, and you have two more tools: freeze one moving thing, so that a frozen moth becomes a platform, or leave an echo of yourself that replays your moves, so it can stand on a pressure plate while you run through the door. There are 20 levels, and the music plays backwards when you rewind. The developer, who posts as u/rip222 and publishes as rip, says Braid is one of their all-time favourites and that the rewind is like Braid's, while the freeze and the echo are the developer's own tools. The developer designed all the puzzles; Claude Code agents wrote basically all the code, each owning one part (engine, levels, art, UI, audio, story), held together by one design document with exact numbers such as the maximum ledge height. There are no AI images: the art is built in code. It plays free in the browser on Dead Simple, a feed of small phone games that the developer's own small team makes.

How it was built

Partially verified

In a post on r/aigamedev (27 Oct 2026, UTC) the developer writes: “I did all the puzzles myself. Claude Code agents wrote basically all the code, with each one owning a piece (engine, levels, art, UI, audio, story).” One large design document that every agent had to follow, with exact numbers such as “max ledge is 3 tiles, max gap is 5”, kept the levels fitting the puzzles. Because agents cannot playtest by watching, the game logic is deterministic and runs without a browser, every level comes with scripts that beat it and collect all the secrets, and a test tool reports anything that breaks. No model is named.

Development approach

Per the developer, the puzzles are the developer's and Claude Code agents wrote the code, each agent owning one area, all following a single design document with exact level metrics. The game logic is deterministic and testable without a browser, and each level has scripted solutions as tests. The art is built in code, with no AI images. The game is a single HTML page on Dead Simple, whose format the developer's team describes as one HTML file under 5 MB; the page credits three.js (MIT licence) for rendering and says the music and sound were made for the game, with recorded sounds under CC0.

Verification notes: AI use comes from the developer's post on r/aigamedev by u/rip222 (27 Oct 2026, 14:16 UTC), read from the Arctic Shift Reddit archive because reddit.com did not answer our checks; a second post by the same account (15 Oct 2026, 21:05 UTC) says their small team ships its phone games with Claude Code. “Basically all the code” is the developer's wording, so no code share is recorded. The post calls the game Still Hour; Dead Simple lists it as Stillhour, published by rip, with the description “The hour the sea held its breath”. Dead Simple's public game data (read 4 Nov 2026) gives a publish time of 13 Oct 2026, 09:00 UTC, before the post, and showed 19 plays and 1 like; these are the platform's own counters and are not recorded as metrics, and whether the publish time is the first release was not established. The game page's script holds its texts in English, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Simplified Chinese and picks one from the browser language. Braid is named by the developer as the inspiration for the rewind; the developer calls the freeze and echo tools their own. No AI service addresses were found in the game page. Team size and location are not stated. The game was not played.
