About Birds with Guns
Birds with Guns is a free multiplayer shooter that runs in the browser. The humans are gone, the jungle has taken the city, and two flocks, the Talon Republic and the Corvid Syndicate, fight over it with rifles, miniguns and rocket pods. Press Play Online and you are in an 8 v 8 Domination match within seconds: real players take the seats and bots fill the rest, and Play vs Bots works offline. There are ten birds, from a Sparrow with a rifle and a Pelican with a shoulder minigun to a sniper Owl with a rail gun strapped to its head, a Shoebill with rockets and a Harpy Eagle with a cannon in its talons. You run, dash and fly, earn Battle Points in a match for kills, assists and flag captures, and spend them on a heavier bird for one life. There are six maps, from a sunset harbour to a neon night market, with banyan trees grown through the streets that block bullets, and a pun-filled kill feed. The developer, Nate, made it as a 24-hour challenge with the same workflow as Slopocalypse: the developer directs and playtests and writes none of the code, Claude Code agents built it, and the credits say Claude “wrote every line of code”. Free on a computer with keyboard and mouse.
How it was built
Partially verifiedIn a post on r/vibecoding (17 Oct 2026, UTC) the developer writes: “I don't write any of the code myself; I direct, playtest and make the calls.” The post's tool table gives Claude Code for “All code, the map kit, design docs, testing, deploys”. One main Claude Code session running Opus acted as lead (specs, reviewing every change, testing in a browser, merging and deploying), and the big pieces went to parallel Claude agents running Sonnet, each in its own copy of the repository: six maps, lobby and XP, menus, the comedy pass, multiplayer, phone controls and the trailer. Everything was checked by bots playing it before the developer played it. Multiplayer was built in one night while the developer slept: the game logic was split out so a server can run it, then an authoritative server, lag compensation and a latency simulator were added. The developer also lists what went wrong, including a test agent that force-closed every Edge window on the developer's PC at 3 am.

Per the developer's post, the game started as grey boxes (capsule birds in a box city, 20 v 20 bots) and was cut down to 8 v 8 with momentum flight, a dash, aim assist and a minimap after the first notes. The ten rigged birds, nine guns, map props and animations were modelled with Meshy; the six maps were built in Blender from a scripted, headless map kit, each by a separate AI agent from one written brief and checked with bots-only matches; the tree and landmark kit came from Gemini through Antigravity, and the credits say the trees were “Grown by Gemini”. Announcer, barks, music and sound effects are from ElevenLabs and textures are CC0 from Poly Haven. Claude modelled time-to-kill for every gun at every range to rebalance the birds. The game runs on Three.js and Vite and is hosted on Vercel, and the match server runs on Node with WebSockets on Railway. The post counts 67 commits in about two days, about 12,000 lines of game JavaScript, 4,000 more for the server and tools and 10,000 lines of Python for the map kit and tools, and less than 24 hours from start to post; it puts the Meshy credits at about US$10 and the ElevenLabs credits at about US$1.

“I don't write any of the code myself; I direct, playtest and make the calls.”Verification notes: The code claim comes from the developer's post on r/vibecoding by u/Bonelessgummybear (17 Oct 2026, 14:32 UTC), read from the Arctic Shift Reddit archive because reddit.com did not answer our checks, and from the credits in the shipped game (checked 4 Nov 2026), which also credit Meshy (birds and guns), ElevenLabs (voices and sounds), Gemini (trees) and Three.js. Modes, birds, maps, process, tools, costs and code statistics come from the post. The shipped game connects to a match server on Railway (observed in the bundle). The post's “24 hour challenge” refers to the time from start to post; the first commit is given as 16 Oct, 1:47 pm, with no time zone. Team size is not stated in this post (the developer calls themselves a solo dev in a post about Slopocalypse); the location is not stated. The bots are game logic: we searched the shipped JavaScript for AI service endpoints and found none. Nothing in the sources describes AI used during play. The game was not played.
