About Hivebound
Hivebound is a free, cozy 3D exploration game for the browser. You are a tiny bee on a hex-tile island: fly from hex to hex, gather nectar, pollen, water and resin, and carry them home to a hive where the Honey Press, Bee Bread Kitchen and Wax Works turn them into honey, bee bread and wax. Wild bees can be befriended with a little timing dance and given jobs, gathering or working at a building, and they keep working for up to eight hours while the game is closed. The Queen's requests lead through a first chapter and then past the mist into new lands, with keepsakes to dress your bee in, golden pollen far from home, a 24-minute day with fireflies and night-only Moon Bees, and settings for colour-vision-friendly palettes and easier befriending. Every model is built in code and the music is synthesised live, so there are no asset files. The developer, zernonia, says a few of the mechanics were inspired by Palworld and that the bees are this cute because their wife and daughter asked for cute bees; the game was built with Claude Code (Opus 5.5) in about three days, with the developer as game director and playtester and Claude writing the code, testing it and opening the pull requests. Free in the browser with no account, playable with keyboard, mouse or touch; the source is MIT-licensed. In English.
How it was built
Partially verifiedIn a post on r/aigamedev (30 Sep 2026, UTC) the developer says the game was built with Claude Code (Opus 5.5) in about three days, around 14,000 lines across 63 files: “My role was mostly game director and playtester. I wrote the feature requests, played every build and pushed back on the feel. Claude wrote the code, tested it and opened the PRs.” Each pull request got a Cloudflare preview link (a short CLAUDE.md told Claude to always post it), Claude tested its own work in headless Chromium with save states and screenshots, and it wrote a scripted “sensible player” balance bot that plays chapter one on a virtual clock, which found a soft-lock and put the chapter at about 13 bot-minutes (about 40 human minutes). The developer says taste calls and the final balance numbers were human work.
Built with Claude Code (Opus 5.5) in about three days, about 14,000 lines in 63 files, with the developer directing and playtesting, per the Reddit post. The stack is Nuxt 4 with TresJS (three.js for Vue) and Pinia, deployed as static files on Cloudflare Workers; the developer chose Nuxt as a Vue developer. Every model is procedural (merged vertex-coloured geometry drawn as instanced meshes) and the music is a generative Web Audio piece; the world is generated from a fixed seed, so adding chapter two left all 1,801 existing tiles unchanged, per the post.

Verification notes: AI use, development time and workflow come from the developer's post on r/aigamedev by u/zernonia (30 Sep 2026, 08:19 UTC), read from the Arctic Shift Reddit archive on 5 Nov 2026. Gameplay, controls, stack and licence (MIT) come from the repository README, read through raw.githubusercontent.com on 5 Nov 2026; the README does not mention AI, so the AI claim rests on the post, whose author has the same name as the repository owner. Opus 5.5 is quoted as the post gives it. “Inspired by Palworld” is the developer's description of a few mechanics; the game uses no Palworld names or assets that we found. The game loaded on 5 Nov 2026; its scripts make no calls to AI services (the only match was a crawler name, “chatgpt-user”, in a bot list). Repository stars and commit history were not checked (github.com was not reachable from our checker). The post had a score of 170 on Arctic Shift (observed; not a metric). Team size and location are not stated. The game was not played.
