About TILANG: Scooter Math Canggu

TILANG is a 3D multiplayer scooter race for iPhone, also on Android, set on the streets of Canggu, Bali, at golden hour. Overtake a rider and their licence plate appears in your rear-view mirror as a math question (7×8, 12+9, 3+4×2); tap the right answer among four first and they get a “tilang”, a traffic ticket. Anyone behind you can read your plate too: a red glow warns you, and you can brake, turn off or overtake back. Answers within two seconds earn a bonus, streaks build up, and three wrong answers stall your engine. Mud hides your plate, a canang offering blocks one hit, coffee gives a speed boost and a new plate rerolls your sum; the leader rides with a gold RAJA plate with harder sums. Races last three minutes and steer with one thumb. There is a Daily Ride with the same plates for everyone and three tries, and online rooms for up to eight riders through Quick Play or a private four-letter code, with bots filling empty seats; no account is needed. The developer says the game is three.js running on WebGPU inside a native app, with every model, texture and sound made in code, and that most of the code was written with Claude (Opus 5.5) as a pair while the design and on-device tuning are the developer's own. Free on the App Store since 23 Oct 2026, in English and Bahasa Indonesia; the support page mentions purchases from an in-game shop.

How it was built

In a post on r/threejs (4 Nov 2026, UTC) the developer writes: “Most of the code was written with Claude (Opus 5.5) as my pair; the design and the on-device tuning are mine.” The post does not name the Claude client. It describes the technical setup: three.js WebGPURenderer on react-native-webgpu inside an Expo app, a post-processing chain written in TSL, no asset files (the town is built from typed arrays into an atlas), a rear-view mirror rendered by a second camera, and the same TypeScript match simulation running on the client and on a Bun server at 60 Hz with bots filling empty seats.

Development approach

Designed and tuned on device by the developer, with most of the code written with Claude (Opus 5.5) as a pair. A native app built with Expo, running three.js's WebGPU renderer through react-native-webgpu on iPhone and Android, with no model, texture or sound files. Multiplayer runs one TypeScript match simulation on the client and on a Bun server (60 Hz, snapshots at 20 Hz); the server owns the rules and the bots. The developer describes backporting parallel shader compilation and slicing the menu prewarm into 4 ms steps to stop freezes on phones.

Verification notes: AI use and the technical setup come from the developer's post on r/threejs by u/sonnylazuardi (4 Nov 2026, 00:53 UTC), read from the Arctic Shift Reddit archive on 6 Nov 2026. Gameplay, modes and features come from the App Store description and Apple's lookup data (6 Nov 2026: seller Sonny Lazuardi Hermawan, free, released 23 Oct 2026, version 1.3.0 of 4 Nov 2026, rated 4+, no ratings yet, English listed as the only language) and from the official site and support page. The site and the App Store description say English and Bahasa; Apple's language field lists English only. The site's Google Play button leads to com.sonnylab.tilang, whose listing (observed 6 Nov 2026) shows a release on 25 Oct 2026, 5+ downloads, ads and in-app purchases of $0.99 to $19.99 per item; Google Play is not a platform we track, so it is not listed and its download band is not recorded as a metric. Whether the iPhone version shows ads was not confirmed. The app is native, so its code could not be checked for calls to AI services; the post describes a game server with bots and no AI features. The game was not played.

Development history

  1. Released free on the App Store, per Apple's data.

  2. Version 1.3.0: a shorter Riding School, every mode open from the first launch and Daily Ride reminders. The same day the developer describes the game on r/threejs; the official site now says it is on Android too.

Game performance

Each figure measures something different — concurrent players, owners, downloads and sales are never interchangeable and are never added together. Labels show where each number comes from.

App Store (iOS)

Free download for iPhone (iOS 16.4 or later), rated 4+. Apple's data shows no price; the developer's support page mentions purchases and packs from an in-game shop.
