About Wick

A minimalist one-button cave flyer. Your torch is the only light and it is burning down: hold to rise, release to fall, and thread your way through a pitch-black cave while chasing floating embers to keep the flame alive. The light radius is your health bar, so the dimmer the flame gets, the less of the cave you can see coming. Collecting embers quickly in a chain earns streak bonuses, and the cave narrows and twists the deeper you go; the page invites players to post their distance in the comments. The fire's crackle is generated procedurally. The developer, legendaryshirt, says Claude Opus 5.5 in Claude Code designed and wrote the whole game as a single HTML file, with a procedural cave, radial-gradient lighting and WebAudio sound and no external assets, playtested it with a headless bot and rendered the store art from the game itself, and that it was built in about 15 minutes. Free in the browser on itch.io, on desktop and mobile (Space, W, Up, mouse or touch); it was entered in AI Browser Game Jam 5.

How it was built

Partially verified

The AI Browser Game Jam 5 submission says Claude Opus 5.5 in Claude Code designed and wrote the whole game: vanilla JavaScript and Canvas 2D in one HTML file, with a procedural cave, radial-gradient lighting, procedural fire crackle and sound effects through WebAudio, and no external assets. It also playtested the game with a headless bot and rendered the store art from the game itself. The entrant says the game was built in about 15 minutes.

Development approach

Made for AI Browser Game Jam 5 (theme: Torch) in about 15 minutes, per the entrant. Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) designed the game and wrote it as one HTML file in vanilla JavaScript with Canvas 2D: the cave is generated procedurally, the lighting uses radial gradients, and the fire crackle and sound effects are synthesized with WebAudio, with no external assets. A headless bot playtested it, and the store art was rendered from the game itself.

Verification notes: AI use from the AI Tools Used answer on the official AI Browser Game Jam 5 submission page, re-read on 5 Nov 2026; the 100% AI code share reflects “designed and wrote the whole game”. The itch.io page itself carries only the itch.io “AI Assisted” disclosure and names no tool. The model name Claude Opus 5.5 is quoted as the entrant writes it. Publication (28 Oct 2026, 22:37 UTC) from the itch.io page, which files the game under Action with the tags Arcade, Casual, Endless and one-button and lists a devlog, “Wick: making darkness the difficulty curve”, which was not opened. The page links the same developer's Perihelion, which has its own profile. The developer writes “me” on the page but does not state a team size. The single-file build makes no calls to AI services. Jam voting was still open on 5 Nov 2026, so no placement is recorded; itch.io shows no public rating. The game was not played.
