About DECKRUNNER

A first-person roguelike shooter in the browser. You fight your way deck by deck through a derelict space station, scavenging weapons and perks, killing whatever is still moving and racing for the escape pod before the station gets you first. The game's own page lists three decks, bosses, 26 perks and 6 weapons; its menus offer a campaign with story beats and audio logs, endless and “Hive” modes, an online co-op campaign and PvP arena with room codes, a PvP arena against bots, a firing range, character skins, a bestiary, leaderboards and a daily challenge seed. The entrant says the idea was to blend roguelikes and shooters, with customization as well. It was made for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the official submission lists Claude Code as the tool. It finished 70th of 945 entries. The developer, the one-person studio paledust, says it was built solo. Free, on desktop with mouse and keyboard and on phones with touch controls.

Partially verified

In the official Vibe Jam 2026 submission the entrant lists Claude Code as the tool and answers Yes to the AI-written field. Neither the game page nor the studio site mentions AI, and no devlog describes how Claude Code was used or which model ran it. The submission covers the jam version only.

Supporting evidence
Development approach

Built solo for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 on Three.js, with Claude Code named as the tool. Online rooms and leaderboards run on the developer's own Cloudflare Workers backends (deckrunner-mp and deckrunner-leaderboard). The studio site says the game was first built for the jam and is still live.

“I love roguelikes and shooters! I wanted to explore an idea that blended the two of them together. Customization as well.”
— paledust, Vibe Jam 2026 games data (entrant submissions, final rank, awards)

Verification notes: Tool (Claude Code), engine, genre, pitch, inspiration and the multiplayer, mobile and portal flags from the entrant's answers in the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data (submitted 29 Apr 2026, 09:40 UTC; final rank 70 of 945 entries, no award); rule 3 on the jam page requires at least 90% AI-written code. Developer: the game page's description says it was “Built solo with Three.js for Vibe Jam 2026. A paledust studio release.”, and paledust.com calls paledust a one-person indie studio and links the game and the itch.io account dustindirects. The entrant's X handle paledustgames returned “not found” in earlier lookups on 4 Nov 2026; a later lookup the same day showed the display name “paledust ✦”, the bio “a one-person studio making strange games for the small hours.” and the website paledust.com, which ties the handle to the studio. The developer's real name and location are not given. Deck count, perks, weapons and modes come from the game page's metadata and menus. The studio's other games (Gobby's Portal, Aether Chronicles) are not covered by this record and were not checked for AI use. The game's code talks only to its own multiplayer and leaderboard servers, Cloudflare analytics and the jam widget; no calls to AI services were found. The jam page's widget counters showed 87 plays and 102 portal transfers for deckrunner.paledust.com on 4 Nov 2026 (observed; plays are sessions, not players or downloads, so not recorded as metrics). The release date is not stated; the jam submission is dated 29 Apr 2026.
