About Operation: Elsewhere
Operation: Elsewhere is a two-player co-op arena shooter played on one shared screen against endless waves, in an early prototype you can play in the browser. The current build is a single room, Room 03 / White Relay, where two players hold out against a horde that surrounds them instead of queuing up; it plays with keyboard and mouse, a shared keyboard or touch. The developer describes it as a Boxhead-style shooter and a game they have had in mind since childhood. The site's roadmap lists playtests next and, for a launch targeted at Q1 2027, a squad of six friends to swap between, a wave director, a story mode, native builds and more maps; online multiplayer, VR and an open world are listed as ideas, not promises. On Reddit the developer says all of the code was vibe coded with Claude Opus 5.5 as lead and reviewer, with Grok on the simulation gameplay and cameras; a second post the same day says most of the code was written with AI. Free in the browser as a prototype; the site calls it a work in progress whose numbers and art are still changing.
How it was built
Partially verifiedIn a post on r/threejs (31 Oct 2026, 22:03 UTC) the developer writes: “All of the code was vibed with Opus 5.5 as lead/reviewer, with Grok on the sim gameplay and cameras.” A post 12 minutes earlier says: “Most of the code was written with AI (Claude Opus 5.5 as lead/reviewer, Grok on the sim gameplay), but the architecture rules above are what kept it from collapsing.” The posts do not name the Claude client. Grok (xAI) is not a tool we track separately. The architecture the developer describes: a headless fixed-step simulation (60 Hz, 120 Hz optional) over typed arrays with interpolated rendering, enemies drawn with seven instanced meshes, a flow field and spatial hash for crowd movement, and golden tests that replay five seeded scenarios bit for bit.
- DeveloperSame-day post: “Most of the code was written with AI (Claude Opus 5.5 as lead/reviewer, Grok on the sim gameplay)”. — Reddit (u/technomeg)
A solo developer, by the site's account, with the code vibe coded by Claude Opus 5.5 as lead and reviewer and Grok on the simulation gameplay and cameras, per the developer's posts. Three.js, TypeScript and Vite; the simulation runs headless at a fixed step with no Three.js inside, and the renderer interpolates between steps. Audio is Web Audio, mixing recorded clips with synth layers. The developer reports a simulation step of 0.23 ms with 400 enemies and a test budget under 2 ms per tick.

“All of the code was vibed with Opus 5.5 as lead/reviewer, with Grok on the sim gameplay and cameras.”Verification notes: AI use and the architecture come from the developer's two posts on r/threejs by u/technomeg (31 Oct 2026, 21:50 and 22:03 UTC), read from the Arctic Shift Reddit archive on 6 Nov 2026; both link the official site. The mode, room, roadmap and Q1 2027 launch target come from the official site and its dev blog (post #01, 11 Oct 2026), read on 6 Nov 2026; the site credits the design to willstrk under the studio name Fusor Intelligent Assembly (a link to a software agency site), and says “Written by the solo dev” and “Solo dev”. The Reddit account is tied to the site only through the posts' links. The two posts differ on “all” versus “most” of the code (see conflicts). “Boxhead-style” is the developer's description; the game uses no Boxhead names or assets that we found. The browser build's script contacts no AI services (checked 6 Nov 2026). The prototype was not played.
