About Slime Escape

A fast top-down survival shooter in the browser. You wake up inside a strange arena and fight through escalating waves of slimes, some of them armed, while a ring of darkness closes in; the short breaks when it pulls back are your chance to breathe, and at the end waits the one who trapped you in this world. The entry submitted to the jam is a run of ten waves ending with a gargoyle boss; the game's menu also offers easy, normal and hard campaign runs, the normal one being a main run of five themed sets with rocks, bombs, mines and crossfire. You switch between weapons such as a pistol, shotgun and SMG and collect power-ups along the way. The entrant says it was inspired by their son's hand-drawn fantastic worlds of strange creatures and weird machines. It was made for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the official submission lists Cursor as the tool, and the repository's credits say it was built with AI-assisted coding. It finished 83rd of 945 entries. Free, on desktop; the submission marks it as not mobile-ready. The source code is public on GitHub under the MIT licence; the art and other assets are not.

How it was built

Partially verified
CursorPrimary

In the official Vibe Jam 2026 submission the entrant lists Cursor as the tool and answers Yes to the AI-written field. The repository's README credits read “Created and designed by Wertakull. Built with AI-assisted coding.”, without naming a tool. Which model ran in Cursor is not stated, and the submission covers the jam version only.

Supporting evidence
Development approach

Built for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 in TypeScript with Three.js and Vite, with Cursor named as the tool. Per the README, the repository also holds game design and product documents, engineering decisions, stories and vertical slices, content data with its own build pipeline, and UI mockups. The README credits design to Wertakull and keeps the art, characters and name under all rights reserved, separate from the MIT-licensed code; it does not say how the art was made.

“Slime Escape was inspired by my son's hand-drawn fantastic worlds: strange creatures, weird machines, and tiny stories that looked like they wanted to become a game.”
— Wertakull, Vibe Jam 2026 games data (entrant submissions, final rank, awards)

Verification notes: Tool (Cursor), engine, genre, pitch, inspiration and the multiplayer (No), mobile (No) and portal flags from the entrant's answers in the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data (submitted 27 Apr 2026, 21:31 UTC; final rank 83 of 945 entries, no award); rule 3 on the jam page requires at least 90% AI-written code. README, licence and package.json read through raw.githubusercontent.com (main branch); the repository's stars and commit history are unchecked, and no CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or .cursorrules file was found at its root. Developer: the README and the game's credits name Wertakull; the jam data gives the X handle alxdos_ (display name Alex; bio “Building animatas, not agents”), which links github.com/alxdos, the owner of the repository. We take Wertakull and alxdos to be the same developer on that basis; no page says so in words. Team size is not stated. Modes, weapons and the gargoyle boss come from the game's script; we did not play every mode, and an endless loop, a training run and test arenas found in the script are hidden from the menu and not described as features. The game's script talks only to its own site, a Discord invite and the jam widget; socket.io-client is listed as a dependency, but no calls to AI services were found. The jam page's widget counters showed 13,631 plays and 5,602 portal transfers for slimeescape.com on 4 Nov 2026 (observed; sessions, not players or downloads, so not recorded as metrics). The release date is not stated; the jam submission is dated 27 Apr 2026.

Development history

  1. Entered in the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 (submission date in the official games data, UTC); the jam required at least 90% AI-written code. Final rank 83 of 945 entries, no award.
