About Underwatch
A small top-down hero shooter. One human plays a three-against-three control-point match and bots fill the other five slots. Each team has a tank, a damage hero and a healer, each with a main shot, a secondary ability on a cooldown and an ultimate that charges as you deal damage or heal: the tank can raise a shield and plant a barrier, the damage hero can sprint and fire shots that pierce enemies, and the healer's shots damage enemies or heal allies. Tab switches which of your three heroes you control, and the others play themselves. A team has to hold the point alone for five seconds to take it, then progress fills over 25 seconds, with overtime while the point is contested; rounds follow one another automatically. Everything is drawn as vector shapes with a built-in blocky font, and all sound effects are synthesized tones, with no image or audio files. The README and the itch.io page say the entire codebase, including the README, was written by an AI coding agent, Claude Code, and that no part of the code, art, audio or documentation was hand-authored. The developer calls it a minimal prototype. Free in the browser on itch.io and as downloads for Windows, macOS and Linux (name your own price); the C++ source is public on GitHub.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe README, which the itch.io page reproduces, opens with “AI-generated project. This entire codebase, including this README, was written by an AI coding agent (Claude Code). No part of the code, art, audio, or documentation was hand-authored by a human.” No model is named, and no devlog describes how the developer worked with Claude Code.
- Developeritch.io page: the same statement; its AI disclosure reads AI Assisted, with Code, Graphics, Sounds and Text marked. — itch.io
Written in C++17 on SDL3 and built with CMake into a single self-contained executable for each desktop system (SDL3 linked statically on Windows and macOS, a universal binary on macOS), plus a WebAssembly build for the browser, per BUILD.md. Graphics are vector shapes and a built-in font; sounds are tones synthesized at runtime. The bots' behaviour (aiming at the nearest enemy, using abilities on their own judgement, contesting the point or regrouping) is ordinary game code described in the README.

“This entire codebase, including this README, was written by an AI coding agent (Claude Code). No part of the code, art, audio, or documentation was hand-authored by a human.”Verification notes: AI statement, heroes, rules, bots and controls from the repository README (read through raw.githubusercontent.com, main branch), which the itch.io page reproduces; build targets from BUILD.md; C++17 from CMakeLists.txt. Status (Released), platforms (HTML5, Windows, macOS, Linux), genre (Action, Shooter), the AI disclosure (AI Assisted: Code, Graphics, Sounds, Text), the name-your-own-price downloads (Version 2 files) and the free web version from the itch.io page on 4 Nov 2026. The itch.io page shows no rating and no publish date, and the repository's creation date and commit history could not be read from our session, so the release date is left blank. No LICENSE file was found in the repository. The heroes' roles are Tank, Damage and Healer; the sources do not compare the game to any other title. Only one human plays; the other five heroes are bots, so it is not listed as multiplayer. The bots are scripted game logic, not generative AI; no source mentions AI running during play. Team size and location are not stated.
