About Yokai Soba Shop
A free, bilingual (Korean and English) cozy management sim for the browser, set in a 1960s Japanese mountain village. You inherit a small soba shop from your late grandmother, who quietly fed yokai for decades, and run it for seven nights. Each morning you wake in the daylit shop, find one glowing object (a handkerchief, an IOU note, a feather) and a memory of your grandmother tells you what that customer likes; each night you drag ingredients into a bowl and serve the yokai who come in, with a dashi-pouring timing mini-game graded perfect, good or off and no failure state. The ending changes with how close you grew to each regular. The developer, Jeonghwan Kim, built it solo in four days for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 and writes of having written zero code by hand: every line was generated through guided iteration with Claude, which wrote 95%+ of the code under direction, while the art, music and design decisions were the developer's own. The jam's rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the official submission lists Claude Code as the tool. It finished 762nd of 945 entries. Free on the developer's own site.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe official Vibe Jam 2026 submission lists Claude Code as the tool. The developer's case study says zero code was written by hand: every line is AI-generated through guided iteration with Claude, which wrote 95%+ of the code under direction. It describes treating Claude “like a junior engineer who needs direction”, giving examples of tone and feel rather than implementation hints, writing design feedback in plain Korean, and stopping Claude twice when it over-engineered. Art, music and design decisions were the developer's, per the case study.

- OfficialJam rule 3: at least 90% of the code has to be written by AI. — Vibe Jam (Pieter Levels)
Solo, in four days, per the developer's case study: the developer directed and Claude wrote the code. Vanilla JavaScript on a 640×360 Canvas 2D view with integer scaling, built with Vite; one game-state tree updated through reducer-style actions; Korean and English text switched live through a Proxy-based locale layer (200+ strings). One streamed background-music file; the four sound effects are synthesized in the Web Audio API. The whole runtime is one 55 kB JavaScript bundle.
