About Mecha Royale
Mecha Royale is a free multiplayer battle royale that runs in the browser: pick a mech, drop into one big map with up to a hundred mechs, and be the last one standing, with no install or sign-up. Its headline feature is a squad mode in which you and your friends climb into the same mech: one person pilots it while teammates control different weapons. The developer, who describes themselves as a solo indie developer, says the map has a radius of about 15 km with millions of procedurally generated objects, from trees and props to bunkers, caves, roads and water, and that the models and animations of the pilots, mechs and buildings are procedurally generated too, all in a game of about 20 MB. It is built with Three.js, and its multiplayer runs on arrr.fun, a free multiplayer layer the developer says they made. The developer says they built most of the game, including much of the multiplayer infrastructure, with Claude Code, after 2 months and 3,000 prompts, and later that about 99% of the code and content was created with Opus; sound and music were made with ElevenLabs and Suno. Free; the game's menu offers ten interface languages.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe developer's Show HN post (13 Sep 2026) says: “2 months and 3,000 prompts later, we have Mecha Royale” and “I built most of the game with Claude Code, including a lot of the multiplayer infrastructure behind it.” A GenAI disclosure in a Reddit post of 5 Oct 2026 says: “I used Claude Code for pretty much all aspect of this game. Been token maxxing nonstop for the past 2 months”, adding that one-shotting gives a decent prototype but the last 10% of detail took 90% of the time. On 17 Oct 2026 the developer wrote on r/ClaudeAI that “About 99% of the code and content was created using Opus”, that the procedurally generated models and animations came from /loops running non-stop for a full week, and that sound and music were created with ElevenLabs and Suno (written “Sunos”). The developer also says they spent hundreds of hours testing, debugging and refining the game.

Per the developer, built mostly with Claude Code over about 3,000 prompts, including the multiplayer infrastructure, with procedurally generated maps, models and animations, and sound and music from ElevenLabs and Suno. The game uses Three.js (version 0.183.2 is bundled with the page) with physics, and its backend uses arrr.fun, a multiplayer layer the developer says they built the month before. Comments in the page source refer to TypeScript source files and to builds exported for game portals.

- Procedural generation with Opus is insane. This entire game is 20MB. (r/ClaudeAI)
Verification notes: The AI claim comes from the developer's own posts: the Show HN post of 13 Sep 2026 (17:56 UTC), the same text on r/ClaudeAI earlier that day, a GenAI disclosure on r/IndieGaming (5 Oct 2026) and a progress post on r/ClaudeAI (17 Oct 2026), read through the Arctic Shift Reddit archive. “About 99% of the code and content” covers code and content together, so no code share is recorded. The posts say “we have Mecha Royale”, but the r/playmygame post of 5 Oct 2026 gives the developer's role as “Solo indie dev”, which is what team size 1 rests on. The 15 km map, the procedural content and the 20 MB size are the developer's statements. Titanfall and MechWarrior are named by the developer as inspirations in posts to those games' communities; no third-party names or assets were seen on the site. The page loaded on 4 Nov 2026; its script bundles Three.js and lists ten interface languages. It also loads a RunHQ widget, and the game script contains a developer performance panel whose text says logged incidents are sent to Claude Code sessions that propose fixes; this is a developer operations tool, not part of play, and no calls from the game to AI services were found. Comments in the page mention CrazyGames and indie.fun portal builds; no portal listing was opened. Real name and location are not given. The game was not played.
Development history
