About Orbital Breach

A zero-gravity team shooter in the browser. Two teams, Cyan and Magenta, start in opposite breach rooms around a zero-G arena; players jump, grab rails, charge a launch and drift through floating debris. The freeze pistol disables an enemy for the rest of the round, and limb hits matter: a damaged right arm blocks firing and damaged legs weaken launches. A round is won by flying a non-frozen player into the enemy breach room, or by freezing the whole enemy team at once; the first team to five round wins takes the match. Modes run from 1v1 to 20v20, solo matches fill empty seats with bots, and online play offers quick matchmaking, public and private rooms, invite links and QR codes, plus touch controls on phones and a post-match debrief with awards. The entrant names Ender's Game as inspiration. It was made for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the official submission lists Claude Code as the tool, and the README describes an agent workflow with Claude Code. It finished 160th of 945 entries. Free, with no account; the source code is on GitHub.

How it was built

Partially verified

In the official Vibe Jam 2026 submission the entrant lists Claude Code as the tool and answers Yes to the AI-written field. The README calls the development an AI-assisted workflow driven by Symphony (an orchestration tool), Claude Code and Codex-compatible repo-local skills: tasks are assigned in Linear and agents pick them up, branch, implement and open pull requests, guided by a CLAUDE.md project file and repository hooks. The README does not say whether Codex itself was used or which models ran.

Supporting evidence
  • OfficialJam rule 3: at least 90% of the code has to be written by AI. — Vibe Jam (Pieter Levels)
  • DeveloperREADME, Development Tooling: “This repo uses an AI-assisted workflow driven by Symphony, Claude Code, and Codex-compatible repo-local skills.” — Dotan Veretzky
Development approach

Built for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 with Claude Code named as the tool, using an agent workflow: per the README, Linear issues are routed by Symphony to agents that branch, implement and open pull requests against a staging branch, with repository hooks for post-edit validation. The client is TypeScript with Three.js and Vite; online play runs on a Colyseus server (Node.js and Express) with an authoritative 20 Hz match state, and a Vitest suite covers rules, arena generation and networking. Audio is credited to Noam Ouzana and the 3D character and gun models to Quaternius.

Verification notes: Tool (Claude Code), engine, genre, pitch, inspiration and the multiplayer (Yes), mobile (Yes) and portal (Yes) flags from the entrant's answers in the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data (submitted 25 Apr 2026, 22:29 UTC; final rank 160 of 945 entries, no award), re-read on 4 Nov 2026; rule 3 on the jam page requires at least 90% AI-written code. The README (read via raw.githubusercontent.com; github.com and the GitHub API were not reachable, so commit dates and stars were not checked) calls the workflow “AI-assisted” and describes agents implementing tasks; it gives no AI code share, so the record rests on the jam rule for that. Rules, modes, controls, tech stack and credits from the README; the game was not played. The page metadata names Dotan Veretzky as author and carries a date of 19 Aug 2026, so the game has been updated since the jam; how much changed is not stated. The bots (“AI pilots” in the README) are scripted opponents, not generative AI, and the game's script was checked for calls to AI services and none were found. The game page also links dotanv.itch.io, which was not opened. Ender's Game is named as inspiration only; no names or assets from it were found, so no IP notice is attached. The jam page's widget counters showed 507 plays and 220 portal transfers for orbital-breach.vercel.app on 4 Nov 2026 (observed; sessions, not players or downloads, so not recorded as metrics). The release date is not stated; the jam submission is dated 25 Apr 2026.
