About Space Commander
A free turn-based roguelike in the browser about a bounty hunter in space. You build a ship from a chassis and modules, take bounty contracts, plot moves through a 3D scene that previews their cost, target individual enemy subsystems in combat and turn in completed bounties for credits, resources and new modules; between contracts there is a market exchange, a salvage exchange and a refit bay for swapping modules, mods and the chassis. Clearing an act's contracts unlocks a boss engagement, and runs can be started from a chosen seed and difficulty. The developer, Gentry Demchak, says some mechanics are blended from games such as Slay the Spire, Path of Exile and Homeworld, that the project began as a side project to test the limits of vibe coding, and that it was made entirely in collaboration with Codex on the Pro plan; in April 2026 the developer described it as still in development, with more than 550 features tracked. It was made for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the official submission lists Codex as the tool. It finished 684th of 945 entries. Played with mouse and keyboard.
