About Crackout
Crackout is a free breakout game in the browser, playable with a keyboard and mouse or by touch on a phone. The bricks are glass: each hit sends cracks out from the point of impact, stronger bricks are drawn thicker (one to three edge lines) rather than in a different colour, and a broken brick shatters with a metallic “clang”, its shards flying in the ball's direction and falling under gravity. You have three lives across three stages; the paddle's top is gently curved, so hits near the edge send the ball off at up to 60°, and the ball speeds up a little with every brick. Broken bricks sometimes drop power-ups: W widens the paddle 1.5 times, M splits every ball into three (up to 12), and P lets the ball pierce bricks and break any of them in one hit. A top-five high-score table with stage and date is kept in the browser. The README says Claude Code built the game on its own: the human asked for things like glass bricks and power-ups, handled the GitHub settings and merged the pull requests, and wrote no game code. Free, in Japanese.
How it was built
VerifiedThe README says Claude Code made the game on its own, running plan, tests and implementation, verification, self-review, work log and pull request in one cycle; the human only asked for features such as glass bricks and power-ups, changed GitHub settings and merged pull requests, and wrote not one line of the game's code. Per the developer's Qiita article (29 Sep 2026), the developer first asked Claude Code to build an environment that could run tasks on its own (rules in CLAUDE.md, skills, planner and reviewer subagents, permissions and hooks, and a verify script run by a Stop hook), then asked only for “a breakout game in the browser, in TypeScript, without dependencies”; this game was operated from a PC browser through Claude Code on the web. GitHub Copilot's automatic review commented on the pull requests, and Claude fixed the issues it found; the article does not say Copilot wrote game code.
- DeveloperQiita article: “発案は私、実装はClaude Code。”; the core implementation took about two hours, from the first game-logic commit at 21:48 to GitHub Pages being ready at 23:51. — Qiita (ちりん / TinklingWay)
TypeScript and Canvas 2D with no runtime dependencies, framework or game engine; sound is synthesized with Web Audio, the metal clang from the non-integer overtones of a free metal bar, which Claude checked as a spectrum because it could not listen in the container. Physics runs at a fixed 120 Hz step, and corner bounces are checked by a test that tries every combination of angle and position (31,137 cases, per the article). Type checks, 92 unit tests and browser end-to-end tests run from one script, and the task is not “done” until it passes. The paddle's curve was the developer's one design input: Claude offered three options and the developer chose a visual-only curve. Design decisions are logged in docs/PROGRESS.md and tasks in docs/TASKS.md. Static hosting on GitHub Pages.

“人間が出したのは、ブロックをガラス風にする・パワーアップを入れるといった要望と、GitHub 側の設定・PR のマージだけで、ゲームのコードは1行も人間が書いていない。”Verification notes: AI use, controls, power-ups, high scores and tech notes from the repository README (read as a raw file); the timeline, the autonomous-development setup and the review fixes from the developer's Qiita article of 29 Sep 2026, which links both the play page and the repository. The article says Crackout was built the day before Flower Reversi and gives clock times but no calendar date, so the release date is left blank. The repository has no licence file, so the game is not marked open source. The play page (page language ja) loaded on 4 Nov 2026; the README says nothing is sent to a server. The developer's location is not stated. The game was not played.
